New Gun

Josh has been looking around for a new gun, and finally found one he really liked that was in his price range. It's a Mosin Nagant M 91/30 - the standard issue Russian infantry WWII riffle. Josh can't wait to get out and shoot it.

Sweet and Tangy Pork Roast

2½ teaspoons chili powder, divided
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon garlic salt
1 (4 pound) boneless pork roast
1 cup apple jelly
½ cup ketchup
2 tablespoons white vinegar

In a bowl, combine ½ teaspoon chili powder, salt and garlic salt. Rub over roast. Sear roast in frying pan until each side is browned. Place in a cooking dish and bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 1½ hours. In a saucepan, combine jelly, ketchup, vinegar and remaining chili powder. Bring to a boil. Cook uncovered for 2 minutes. Brush ¼ cup jelly mixture over roast. Bake 10-15 minutes longer until a meat thermometer reads 160 degrees. Remove roast to a serving platter. Let stand for 10-15 minutes. Slice roast and serve with remaining sauce.

Fixing Up the Civic

I love having a husband that can fix cars - and better yet, he really enjoys it! This weekend he took apart the civic, replaced several broken parts, AND completely cleaned the inside of it! Josh's mom was nice enough to come down and bring her carpet cleaner and clean the carpet and seats in the car. I am one lucky lady!

The Party Civic Is Back!

Josh and I have been looking for a new car for a while now. My car was having all kinds of problems, the biggest one being that it wouldn't stay in 5th gear. It has been like that for the last year and a half, so I haven't been able to drive on the freeway for a long time - kind of a nuisance. On Saturday Josh found a '97 Honda Civic with 129,000 miles on it so he went and checked it out while I was at work. It was exactly what we were looking for, so we got it! I had a Civic when we got married (my friends called it the party Civic) and I loved it. I am really excited to have one again.
