I've been looking for a new sugar cookie recipe for a while and finally found one from
the girl who ate everything that is delicious! Try it out - you won't be disappointed!
1 cup sour cream
2 cups white sugar
1 cup butter
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
6 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine sour cream, sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla. Mix well. Add dry ingredients until everything is mixed together. Let the dough chill in the fridge for 20 minutes or until firm. Roll it out and cut or whatever you want. Bake until LIGHT golden brown-no more than 10 minutes. When you take them out they will seem underdone but aren't. Let them cool on the pan and they will be perfect and moist. If you like harder and more crunchy just bake them a little longer.
Here is my favorite frosting recipe to go with the sugar cookies.
Buttercream Frosting (from Wilton's Cake Decorating Guide)
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk or water
1 teaspoon vanilla
Cream together the shortening and butter. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Add food coloring if desired.
