Skyler's 2nd Birthday

For Skyler's birthday this year, we had Josh's parents and grandpa over for dinner, presents and cake. Skyler seemed to get the concept of opening presents a lot better this year, and even tried to open one of them while I was making dinner. She got a lot of fun toys and loved her birthday cake!
Legos
Her own tools and tool box
Minnie Mouse doll from Grandma and Grandpa
(she had to use her new screwdriver to help her open her next present)

Learning how to use her new tools
Reading her birthday card

Skyler sat on the table while I decorated her cake and kept saying "kitty cat, meow!"

Twin Bed

Josh has been building a twin bed for Skyler and just finished it this past week. He finally had some time to put it together today. We love how it turned out and Skyler really seems to like it too. We aren't quite ready to transition her to a normal bed yet, but probably will some time within the next couple of months.

Garage Fun

I love having a girl! Skyler loves the typical girl things - necklaces, the color pink, dolls, you name it. But she can also be a tomboy. She HATES having her hair done (as you will notice in these pictures), enjoys playing in the dirt, and loves to hang out and "help" her dad in the garage. Josh was working in the garage this morning and she wanted to hang out with him, so he propped up her trike and gave her a few tools and she got right to work on her trike.

Halloween

I took Skyler trick-or-treating downtown again this year. I decided to dress her up as an elephant because she has a stuffed elephant that she absolutely loves and she makes the cutest elephant noise. We got a lot of compliments on her costume as we stopped off at all of the shops in the area. Don't let her expression in these pictures fool you. She wouldn't smile for the camera today, but she did have a lot of fun.

We also went trick-or-treating around the neighborhood for a little bit once it got dark. Luckily the weather was really nice today and we stayed plenty warm.
I think one of her favorite parts about Halloween this year was answering the door for trick-or-treaters. She would run up to the door and knock on it before I could open it, then would wave and say goodbye as they all left.

Triple Bunk Beds

Josh's parents have a smaller bedroom in their house that they use as a guest room. They wanted to maximize the space they had by putting 3 beds in the room but weren't sure quite how to do it. I found these triple bunk beds on Pinterest and thought they'd be perfect in their room. Josh got busy designing similar bunk beds and built them this summer, just in time for Josh's brother and his family to visit.

The room is pretty small, so it was a little bit difficult to get some good pictures, so hopefully you get an idea of what they look like from these.

Middle Bed
Skyler loves playing on the beds. When Josh's mom watches her, the first thing she does is run into the bedroom where these beds are!
